Celebrate Silver Spring Blues Week with an evening at the Bio Wall, featuring award‑winning vocalist Carly Harvey.

DC’s Queen of the Blues was also recently on NBC’s The Voice. Experience her rich, soulful sound up close in a setting that showcases our community’s love of live Blues music. We are thrilled to showcase Carly and her trio as we celebrate Silver Spring Blues Week.

ABOUT CARLY HARVEY
Based in Washington, D.C., Carly Harvey is an award-winning Blues artist whose sound bridges the roots of Blues, Jazz, Soul, and Indigenous American music. A dynamic performer and compelling storyteller, Carly is also the originator of the “Native Scat”—an improvisational fusion of traditional Jazz scat singing with Indigenous American vocables that reflects her Afro-Indigenous heritage.

In 2025, Carly appeared on NBC’s The Voice, Season 28, earning national attention and praise from Team Bublé for her rich tone, emotional depth, and originality. Her performances on the show introduced new audiences to her unique blend of cultural expression and musical integrity, reinforcing her role as one of the most distinctive voices in modern Blues.

A three-time DC Blues Society Battle of the Bands winner and DC’s Queen of the Blues (2016), Carly has been recognized by Big City Blues Magazine as one of the “youngest Blues artists to watch” and by the Wammie Awards, where she received seven nominations and won Best Blues Artist (2021).

Her artistry is grounded in the belief that Blues is not only born of the African American experience but also deeply connected to Indigenous American minor pentatonic melodies and Stomp Dance songs. As a proud Eastern Band Tsalagi and Tuscarora descendant, Carly often leads master classes and cultural workshops that explore these intersections, using music as both education and reclamation.

Carly’s latest album, Kamama (released August 25, 2024), continues to expand her sonic landscape. The project features collaborations with Walking Eagle, Joe Louis Walker, Annika Chambers, Dave Keller, Sean Hurley, and Doug Woolverton, and has been celebrated for its authenticity, spiritual depth, and genre-defying fusion.

According to DC Music Review, “Carly is grace, confidence, originality, and the right amount of sexy swagger all at once. She commands the stage with her voice and presence and draws you in intensely—then ends each song with an infectious smile of pure gratitude that beams so brightly into the audience.”

With over 70 cities and six countries under her touring belt since 2023, Carly Harvey continues to carry the Blues forward—rooted in heritage, grounded in authenticity, and guided by spirit.
